wwoofingWWOOF stands for Word Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and is one of the most amazing schemes set up. Wwoof membership is available in well over 50 countries and not expensive to join.

The membership allows you to apply to stay with families in their home while working for your keep. These stays range from Hotels, commercial farms, privet family farms and life styles plots so be prepared to get your hands dirty as you will be expected to get thoroughly stuck in.

I have only WWOOFed in New Zealand but it played a part in some of my favorite memories as it’s a great way to meet local people and experience their way of life. Some of the families I stayed with I am still in contact with which just adds to the experience.

A very fond memory is of a family I stayed with in tiny town. I was missing home more than usual and im not going to lie, all I wanted was a roast dinner. A REAL roast dinner with all the trimmings. So when I got in from spending all day stuffing leaves in to bags and there was a huge roast dinner on the table which was just amazing. We had a few drinks and they said thank you for what I had done and the help – its things like that evening that makes a trip!!! the small things!!!! and these families really do make you feel apart of their family and when you are so far away from your own it can make all the difference.

I really recommend this, a true experience of where ever you may be!!!!!!!
