Did you have to look twice??? I did when i discovered this little nugget!, intrigued i had to read on and share with the world.
These bizarre natural phenomenons truly are a sight to see, sparsely scattered across the globe are these beautiful pink lakes. They get their colour from the algae that produces Carotenoids (coloured pigments) such as Dunaliella salina, a type of halophile green micro algae found in sea salt fields. At a certain temperature which is warmer than sea water, the algae starts to gather a red pigment.
these striking lakes are found all across the world in places such as Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan and Senegal.
