Looking at the these mountains you could be forgiven for thinking that they are images from an alien planet or that you eye’s have gone all funny. But no, these mountains are real and are part of the Zhangve Danxia landform in Gansu, China. They rainbow mountains become a world heritage site in 2010 and rightly so!!!! I mean how amazing does this place look!!!
The mountains formed due to mineral deposits and red sandstone layering starting over 24 million years ago. The range hosts a strange set of wonderful mountains shapes including pillars, towers, valley and waterfalls with a huge variety in colour and texture.
The area has become a huge tourist attraction and has become the next location to make it on my bucket list!!!
